  • Your soul is never lost, only traveling through space and time experiencing things that interest you most..
John Varelas, also known as Locke, was born in Athens and moved to the city of Chalkida at an early age. His passion for music though, brought him back to the capital of Greece where he was introduced to the electronic music scene in which he got involved through organizing events (all over the country) and by working for (several) labels.
John moved to Berlin in 2007 and kept himself busy by throwing in a whole lot of underground parties such as the “Mangali” with his fellow producer and DJ “Siopis”.
In 2011 he “gave birth” to the “MOVE” project, organizing private parties in secret locations with lineups that were revealed to the crowds after they entered the gig space, never before. In those events he hosted artists such as: Frascois K, Sadar Bahar, Levon Vincent, Delano Smith, Vakula, The Persuader Live, Soul Capsule, Margaret Dygas, The Mole, Jef K, Mike Huckaby, Anja Schneider, Marc Schneider, Siopis, And.id, Akylla, ΝΤΕΙΒΙΝΤ and more. “MOVE” project, with its secret lineups and special invitation policy, created a new kind of mystique within the Athens house movement as it renewed and promoted a ripe club culture amongst the ancient buildings of the city.
The success of the “MOVE” led him to create the “Τhe Voice of MOVE”, a weekly radio show broadcasted by “Home Radio 89.1”.  From day one the “The Voice of MOVE” has been associated with quality underground music and has created a big family of fans and supporters around the globe. The show’s success brought the “The Voice of MOVE” into the clubs and on the dance floors. John started playing frequently, sharing his sound with MOVERS all around the world. As a solo DJ, Locke has already crossed many frontiers of the electronic music scene. From regular gigs throughout Europe, where he was playing alongside well respected artists (such as Ron Trent, Delano Smith, Vakula), to South American Jungle parties, burning hot African Desert raves and underground clubs of Florida to the sparkling coastal shores of Baja California. Locke is more than just a DJ. He is a connector, educator and traveler whose soulful music has the crowds chasing the sun as he brings love and celebration to those in the clubs and festivals.   Locke never stopped craving to create and so he continued participating in other interesting dance concepts such as “Odyssia Festival” as music director and co - founder on “Walk the Night”. “Odyssia Festival” occurred once a year in the coastal area of Schinos Bay in Greece (a few kilometers outside Athens) bringing some of the world's most revered house music artists. Locke was the music managing director in the first year of this pioneering gathering. “Walk The Night” was yet another extension of musical teachings and featured (in many) a metropolis to flaunt the original beats of electronic America, proving that 30 years later, the sound of Detroit and Chicago has never found sleep.  Armed with strong beliefs in what he does, this modern wayfarer feed’s his soul with that, which calls to him the most — the music. And whether it floats through psychedelic sunsets, between urban club strobes or over the earth with dusk, the path is clear as he connects strangers, lovers and best friends through an organic and rhythmic sound.
