"Homework"! The Daft Punk Album of 1997 changed the view for electronic music of many people, so it did for Marcel Knopf. He became frenetic with collecting vinyl with the aim to stand behind the counter one day: Together with Matt John (Perlon) he founded the record store "Sine Music" in Nordhausen, in 2000. Their tiny, pretty but illegal parties in the basement of the store were a cell of Minimal in Thuringia, what was lacking that kind of music. He became resident DJ of the club "Alte Weberei". "Sine Music" was a meeting place for DJs and offered musical alternatives. So it was just a matter of time until the Mo's Ferry guys Dapayk and Jan Langhammer met him. Soon after Marcel took over the A&R of the label Mo's Ferry Prod. Since 2002 Marcel Knopf works together with Dapayk on own tracks. "Holpergeist EP" was the beginning of experimental club releases and gave a special sound to the label. "Sine Music" opened a subsidiary in Berlin but went bankrupt after a break-in and sinking sales figures. Marcel moved back to his native city Berlin. Marcel continued working for Mo's Ferry. 2006, he compiled and mixed the "bits to phono" compilation, which tracks came all from netlabels. In a time of an increasing enthusiasm for digital DJ methods and release ways he took up the cudgels for the Black Beauty: Vinyl. Other 12'' releases like "Lloyd/Narain", "Thinkaboutyou", "Plomosis" followed on the sub label Rrygular. After a long absence from Mo's Ferry Marcel comes back with his debut album “Dusty Dance” in October 2009. A couple months later Marcel opened his own imprint `Clap your Hands“. With releases by Gunnar Stiller, Nikola Gala, Luna City Express and remixes by Dubspeeka, Ejeca, Jesse Rose, DJ Sneak and Ian Pooley the label advanced to one of most reliable platforms for contemporary versatile club music. In the same year Marcel and the Mo's Ferry Crew succesfully started the I Love Vinyl Open Air to make a statement for their big love- the "black beauty". Due to lots of ambition, love for detail in regards to decoration, line up and sound some of Europes finest including Modeselektor, DJ Hell, Monika Kruse, … showing her love and the festival gets appreciated by more and more guests and fans each year. Besides running CYH successfully for 7 years, Marcel is working as a label manager with the Grise Agency for labels like Cacao, Exploited, OFF, Mother and JEUDI since the beginning of 2016. As well he established together with Thabo Getsome the Clap Your Hands event series in Berlin hot spots club like IPSE, Tresor and Kosmonaut Marcel Knopf's DJ sets cover a wide range of music and reflect his preferences for Dub, House, Broken Beats and Techno. Fresh, different but always floor-orientated.
