Margaux Gazur is a French-Vietnamese composer, musician, producer and DJ based in Berlin. Her music is drawing from a range of stylistic influence, including electronic music, musique concrète, classical and jazz. Through her compositions and live performances, she explores possibilities of sounds, using unconventional instruments, everyday objects and field recordings to create rich and textured soundscapes. She also likes to combine sound with other disciplines to create abstract sensory experiences. Margaux’ eclectic, organic DJ sets traverse ambient and experimental jazz, and evolve naturally into minimal, groovy, deep dub sounds. Her breakout track Water on Mars was released to acclaim on Smallville’s Fifty-five Ways EP in 2019, but recent productions take on a more organic form by combining field recording techniques and original acoustic instrumentation. Having lived in Vietnam for five years from 2012, Margaux played a key role in developing Hanoi’s underground electronic music community. She founded the first alternative art and music venue, inviting international acts and local artists. Aiming to source local talents, she founded a multidisciplinary collective to connect artists and musicians to work together on projects mixing traditional and modern approach. She is part of the Berlin-based collective Weich, which focus on creating and maintaining a space for exploration, intimacy and collaboration across all mediums and genres. With appearances at Atonal, Fusion, Waking Life and at Giegling events, Margaux has cemented her reputation as a forward thinking artist with a globally influenced sound.
