When being asked for his preferences in House and Techno music, Marquese names labels such as Playhouse, Svek, Basic Channel or Classic influential for his own productions. Only after having finished his studies as an art teacher in 2007, Marquese began to play around with music production soft- and hardware. He calls his work “always process-driven and when I start with a new tune, I haven‘t got a fixed idea or concept. It‘s more a specific sound that I begin with. This can be a bassline that I like or just the sound of a tea spoon on the floor. That‘s my basis and from there I proceed. The framework of a track is always done pretty quick and then I put it away and let it rest for a week or two. Afterwards I dig it out and work on it again. So there are always a couple of things or tracks that I work on at the same time. But every process has to come to an end and that‘s when I finished a tune.” Besides his obvious talent as a producer, Marquese is an excellent DJ. As a result he came to his first release in 2008 when getting in touch with Einzelkind and La Peña after a joint DJ night with KIA. Marqueses sets are influenced by early 90ies Housemusic, but not limited to that. You can expect a rhythm-oriented mixture of old and new stuff when attending his gigs. With the massive clubtrack “Keep Movin“ on the Frankfurt based label La Peña, Marquese made his debut as an electronic dance music producer in 2009.
