A DJ for 18 years, Mazi has traveled the world over visiting clubs like Fabric in London, Crystal in Istanbul, Q in Zürich, Avalon in Los Angeles, Masai in Varna, Level in Bahrain, Red Light in Paris and Simoon in Tokyo. He continually works on remixes; his recent credits include Marc Romboy and Tyree Coopers Lost on Josh Winks Ovum Recordings, Nick and Danny Chatelains Sube Conmigo on NRK, AlexKid & Chloe's Afterblaster on Brique Rouge, Alexander Maier's Sahara Rain on Mood Music, Cates&dpL's Through the Weekend on OM Records, Chaim's C Factor on Missive Recordings and Nosmo v Kris B & Ben Brown's La Cocina which was licensed to Darren Emerson's Bogotá GU36 DJ mix; the latest in the world famous Global Underground series. Currently most of his original music appears on Fresh Meat Records which he co-owns with partner Nathan Drew Larsen. Fresh Meat is mainly a platform for music by Nathan and Mazi with occasional releases by other like minded talent. The label scored its first club hits with No One To Care For by Nathan under his House of Black Dress moniker and with Anymore by Badmouth (a collaboration between Mazi and Cass). Releases on Fresh Meat have included production and remixes by Phonique, Will Saul & Tam Cooper, King Roc, Worthy, Kyle Szmurlo, Luna City Express, Fine Cut Bodies, Akbal Dubroots, Alex Parsons, David Duriez, Phonogenic, Subsky, Florian Kruse, Sandrino & Adryan and Julien Parisé. Original compositions by Audio Soul Project (or one of Mazi's other pseudonyms) have appeared on Systematic, Urbantorque, NRK, Circle Music, SAW and Dessous Recordings. His successful relationship with Steve Bug's Dessous label began in 2006. His first work for the label was a remix of DJ FEX's Mysterious Conversation. The remix was licensed to the Circo Loco Monday Morning Session double pack mixed by Loco Dice and Clive Henry. His second project for Dessous was the Reality Check EP. The title track was licensed by DJ T for his Body Language Vol. 2 compilation on Get Physical. Both records have long been repressed and sold out. His third release for the label was entitled Enter the Night and came out in February of 2007 to strong critical acclaim. Since then his music has appeared on two Dessous compilations. The latest track, Vincenzo's remix of Reality Check rose as high as number #8 in the Beatport tech-house chart. Mazi has several ongoing collaborations including work with David Duriez as Mazi & Duriez, with Kyle Szmurlo and Nathan Larsen as Wow & Flutter and with Cass as Badmouth. The last Badmouth single Anymore was licensed to Ralph Lawson's Fabric 33 mix compilation and by Sander Kleinenberg for his Renaissance mixed CD. It garnered major attention from taste makers like Laurent Garnier, James Flavour, DJ Terry, Sasse, Paolo Mojo and MANDY. MANDY have charted it, played it in countless clubs and on their radio show. Mazi's newest collaboration is with long time friend and fellow Chicago house soldier Justin Long as Wasted Chicago Youth. With their latest invention, the duo breathe life back into the sleeping giant that is Chicago House Music. It's no small order, but both artists feel the time has come to get their hometown back on top of a scene that has in recent years seen its status trivialized. Their first EPs have received praise from all corners of the house and techno world. Four of their tracks have already placed in top 50 sales positions on Beatport. Wasted Chicago Youth's latest records have been signed to Jay Haze's ultra hip Tuning Spork imprint gaining the attention of a whole new demographic for this veteran producer. In fact, the press continue to flourish praise on Mazis productions. Recently DJ Mag had this to say about one of his collaborations, "As the current wave of minimal house pushes its way to the forefront, its apparent that the most forward-thinking producers have gravitated towards this sound. Both Mazi and Joshua Collins have been making futuristic music for years, so its no major surprise that their latest outing...is inspired by Euro-centric club music. (5/5 stars) In summer of 2007, Mazi signed a deal with Rane endorsing their Serato Scratch Live DJ system. He has since taken the system on tour in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Starting in December of 2008, as Wasted Chicago Youth, Mazi and Justin Long have created a four turntable, dual Serato Scratch Live set that has dates already booked in Berlin, London and Denver.
