- A life dedicated to music that led to a love for Techno.From around the age of 10, he generated a fond interest in dance music such as Trance, Psytrance and Big Beat, mainly due to the exposure he had from a young age with his father. And as he grew, so did his musical tastes; from House, Progressive House, Tech-house, and, finally, to Techno.He taught himself how to DJ with garage and trance vinyl from a young age on his brothers turntables. It was at Brighton University when the opportunity to DJ arose, when applying to an advert for a pirate radio station. He managed to secure himself a peak Friday evening slot, 7-9pm playing a selection of house and techno tracks on the local airwaves. It was then he decided to spend his student loan on his first full set-up of 2 Denon CDJ's and an old Numark mixer. From the exposure from the radio and the practice he put in, gigs started coming around Brighton, with bookings at some of the best clubs such as Honey Club for Hed Kandi, Digital, Kuko Club as well as numerous bars and house parties. To top off his first year as an active DJ he managed to get to the final stages of a DJ competition where he played in Ibiza at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. The following year at university he started his first club residency playing house music every week for one of the best student nights in Brighton at Digital Club, and also managed to play a little further afield at a handful of parties in London. Once he had finished Uni, he worked full time, and in his evenings and weekend began to invest time into production, teaching himself the basics and started writing tracks. On returning to London he also discovered a group of friends with a similar vision and passion for music - they ran a radio and a label (MFR Records - UK). Nicolson started his new weekly radio show, Abstrakt Sessions, on Mode FM in February 2015. In December 2015 his first release came out under his Arkansas Alias – a Free download for MFR Records (UK) with great support from DJ’s as big as Claude Von Stroke. His next 2 releases then came out in 2016, a Remix on MFR records and a 2 track EP on Dootrecords.com (Italy). September 2016 saw him move from London to Italy, to live with his fiancé and focus full time on his music. The Nicolson alias was then born, the more techno focused alter ego. Combining strong bass lines with driving melodies has allowed him to create a unique techno sound in a saturated market. The first release for the Nicolson alias was out in January 2017 on Dootrecords.com (Italy), plus signings due for release over the next few months with Pathogen Productions (UK), Biosfere Records (Germany), Onesun Neon (Germany), Oxytech (Ukraine) and Krunch (USA).
