  • something about rainbows and nihilism
nihiti's first hybrid electronic/acoustic release, "other people's memories", earned rave reviews and a coveted "Record of the Week" selection at NYC's legendary Other Music. Diving into the high fidelity of dread that made that record's electronic half so interesting, their next release "for ostland" earned rave reviews from Resident Advisor, Aquarius Records, and other notable curators of sonic experience on the darker end of the spectrum. The record's baleful siren call cover of Marissa Nadler's "Ghosts and Lovers" then received unexpected dancefloor remixes by Hrdvsion (Wagon Repair), Mark Verbos (Djax-Up-Beats, The Bunker New York), and Zebrablood (Excepter). Recent appearances developing an ambient music installation for Aurora Halal's Sustain Release festival in New York as well as unexpected techno/hip hop mixtape on the Bunker NYC Podcast and recent have refracted nihiti's mysterious and ominous, nigh on magical sounds through the different prisms of those genre's frameworks, but the core feeling - of unsettling dread and whispered losses - has always remained the same.
