I'm not a fan of biographies written in the third person, hyping every single element and relying on lists and lists of details, so I'll keep this brief: Perseus Traxx is one of a number of different projects and aliases born from differing themes and ideas, be they mythological, fantastical, conspiratorial or otherwise. Others include, but are not limited to: Northern Powerhouse (with Alex Handley), Nite Vision (with Craig Stainton), Orpheus, Sir Leon Greg, Operator Tracey, Scandalous Arthur, Orpheus, Ellis de Havilland and Vulcano (with Dario Tronchin, Domenico Cipriani, Madì Grein, Marco Sartorelli, Mattia Favaretto) and Visions of Amnesia (with Nicola Loporchio). All of these lie in the broad, decades old church, known as House Music. I make electronic music with a range of devices and techniques, sometimes with computers, sometimes with hardware; a lot depends on where I'm at and how I feel so there is no one particular route. When I perform live, which I've been lucky enough to do a fair number of times over the last decade, I usually take a hardware sequencer and a few synths with me, and rock things out over a mixing desk. The performances are never an exact replica of the music I've had released and are best taken as live improvisations or reworks of ideas that I've left dwelling in the machines. When I'm invited out to play records, it can vary from disco to techno depending on where I'm playing. I think the boundaries between disco, house and techno are all quite flexible in terms of history and referencing and pigeonholing of music can easily cut off a wealth of experience. I buy records as I have no digital player other than my computer and don't need additional filing and hardware costs on my mind or wallet. I grew up with records and like the notion of them being a document which captures a certain time, mood and set of ideas. I don't think they're necessarily superior to digital, but are the format I choose to collect/consume. I began by self releasing and was fortunate enough to resonate with a range of labels such as Den Hague's legendary Bunker, as well as M>O>S and BOE Recordings. More recent releases have been via Gated Recordings and Weapons Of desire. Occasionally I release a few one off acetates stamped with Vanity Gamble; they are what it says, and provide me with the ability to play out copies of things I've made but haven't been picked up by anyone. I'm a firm believer in digging around for info, so rather than listing all my releases here, would encourage you to have a look on Discogs. It's a great resource allowing cross referencing and digging, to allow discovery of artists, labels and releases, and is this active approach is something I really encourage; curiosity often has rewards which are greater than simply waiting for everything to come to you.
