  • Planet Jumper is the Australian based production duo of Steve Ford and Drew Schapper: purveyors of fine Electronic Funk.
Planet Jumper fuse funk, disco, house and techno to create inventive music that is driven by low slung, driving bass lines, liquid wah guitar, sticky synth lines, wild percussion and an overwhelming desire to start the party. Inspired by timeless music and classic cultural antagonists, Planet Jumper takes its musical cues from the past, while always looking to push their sound sonically into the future. Planet Jumper avoid following the current trends of dance music and prefer to incorporate a wide range of disparate influences creating music that is distinctly their own. Planet Jumper’s live performance featuring heavy live drumming and percussion, is a hyper frenetic, energetic show, predicated on the swift and continual live remixing of original Planet Jumper productions. Similarly their DJ sets are ever evolving and exclusively feature fresh and exciting tracks from the Planet Jumper lab. Signed to Agent 86’s 'Lightspeed Records' (AUS) Planet Jumper released their first EP, "Stick Back", in 2010, which included both original music and remixes. Since then Planet Jumper has been featured on the legendary Revolver ‘Late Show’ artist compilation (2011). They released their second EP, “Leave This Place Behind” on 'Slap Gravity Records' (2012), with remix duties handled by Scottish production/DJ legends Optimo. Planet Jumper's second EP of 2012 was called 'Brooklyn Bound' and was released on 'SMaSH BaNG Records'. 2013 began with Planet Jumper releasing their ‘Bullet Proof’ EP on Dobara Music, their ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ EP on Dobara and their ‘Funkollaboration’ EP alongside label mates Oddphonic on 'SMaSH BaNG Records' (AUS) and concluded with them releasing their first album on ‘Little Angel Records’ (GER/ITA). 2014 has seen Planet Jumper release the ‘True Hustler’ EP on Dobara, ‘The Tyranny of Choice’ EP on ‘Heartbeat Revolutions’ (ARG), their ‘Machines’ EP on ‘Finn Audio’ (AUS) and the ‘Funkollaboration 2’ EP once again alongside Oddphonic, on SMaSH BaNG Records’. Future releases are set to occur via ‘Slap Gravity’. Planet Jumper’s unique sound has also become ever present across a myriad of clubs (Revolver, My Aeon, Lounge, First Floor etc.) and festivals in Australia (Rainbow Serpent (2011-2014), Eclipse 2012, Subsonic, Maitreya, St Kilda Fest etc). Since their very first shows they have always pushed the boundaries of what live electronic funk can sound, look and feel like on the dance floor.
