  • Rektchordz' is 24 year-old Cornish dweller Jamie Smithson, already heralded in many quarters as one of the brightest young things in the tech-funk firmament.
    Behind him already are a long line of tech-esque, genre-bending breakbeat releases, with labels such as Unstable, Bomtraxx, Sinister, Mofo, Control Breaks, Breakin' Even & Brighton Breaks, all helping Rektchordz rise through the scene. Along the way was responsible for dropping savage tracks such as 'Turn These Speakers Up' which rocked dance floors worldwide and spent an age at the top of the Beatport charts. He has also turned many heads with his inspirational & much-respected remixes, winning a host of A-List admirers and enjoying regular airplay from Kissy SellOut, Annie Nightingale, Matt Darey and Jay Cunning to name but four. 2009 saw Rektchordz take a major step up as he joined techfunk's finest clan, signing to musical master mind Elite Force's U&A Recordings. With his first two releases gaining props from the likes of Laurent Garnier, James Zabiela, Will Bailey, Slam & DJ Dan, and getting the remix treatment from major players such as Lee Mortimer, Calvertron, Meat Katie and Elite Force himself, it was clear Jamie had found the perfect imprint to support his ever growing sound. Producing on one of the best labels in the business has led to a burgeoning DJ diary, taking in shows as far afield as Helsinki, Prague, USA ,Spain and all over the UK. 2010 is looking incredibly busy for Rektchordz with a string of remixes scheduled on Trickery Collective, Aux, and Ape. He also recently released a major Techfunk Sample Pack show-casing the science behind the trademark sound Jamie has developed. This year U&A will once again will be showcasing the freshest original Rektchordz tracks with remixes from the likes of 'The Loops of Fury', 'Pete Jordan' and dubstep chart-topper 'Vaski'. Jamie continues to develop his global DJ diary, as well as providing you with regular slabs of pod-fodder in the shape of the 'Filthy Inspiration Sessions', a monthly DJ mix showcasing the biggest, most upfront tunes from the tech-funk scene-leaders.
