  • An up and coming talented Producer of 2015 brings an elite of original productions to the front line of house. Signed to Electronique, veryverywrongindeed, Stripped Digital, Sounds Of Juan, and more to come in 2015/6. Expect deep groovy Techno
From a small boy Russell has always had a keen interest in electronic music, heavily influenced by the 80's and listening to artists such as New Order, Depeche Mode sealed his love for music with synthesizer sounds. Becoming a regular clubber Russell would have been seen at many London clubs such as Bagley’s, Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, clubs/bars in and around Shoreditch and this is where he developed his love for the harder style of Techno music. When he further researched into more underground house music he was becoming inspired by artists such as Format B, Trentemoller, Infusion, Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin, Maetrik and many more. This sealed his desire to become a DJ, and in a short period of time after buying himself a pair of 12-10’s and a huge library of vinyl he locked himself away and crafted the art of becoming repeatable DJ. This didn't stop Russell's passion to explore further in the industry, and took several trips to Ibiza making contacts from the scene and trying to secure himself some gigs. He was offered advice on the music industry and DJing from mentor/label manager Tim Sheridan (veryverywrongindeed) who he met at Nastydirtysexmusic at Space. He took this advice and used it to gain 2 residencies at some of London's biggest clubs, the first every Friday at EGG where he played alongside Kosheen at JET/PROLOUGE, and the second at Turnmills where he played alongside the late King Roc for The Gallery in the famous Room 2 on the last Friday of every month. He has also played at the memorable closing party at The Cross alongside Tim Sheridan, Mr C, and Shane Watcha playing a 5 hour b2b set until The Cross closed it's door to the public for good (a highlight of Russell's career). Using his now vast knowledge of the music scene Russell decided it was time to create his own party with its own sound, and NEON (Nasty, Electronic, Obscure, Noises) was born. Once a month the popular event would take over the Medicine Bar (formally East Village) in Shoreditch and later The Sunrooms in Southend, offering as the name would suggest minimal house. During this time Russell also lent a helping hand in the creation of the popular Essex brand Too Damn Glam where he co promoted and was a resident bringing his unique sound that changed the music policy in the South East for good. Inspiring other local DJ's to follow suit with the more driving, underground sound of house. Eventually outgrowing promotions Russell started to look for other ways to express his musical talents and production became his new obsession. In 2010 he enrolled at The Westminister University to study Creative Music Production & Business. He earned a degree in both, giving him the ability to finally create his own unique sound. His mechanical, industrial, organic techno sound has proved popular, with his E.P ''Shift It'' being signed to the very respectable label Veryverywrongindeed where he sits comfortably amongst some very credible artists on the label such as Deepgroove, Max Cooper, Timo Garcia, Andre Crom, the late King Roc and many more. He has also other releases on large labels such as Stripped Digital, Sounds Of Juan and more to see in 2013. His DJing career has gone also from strength to strength, being a resident for KLIK a hugely successful brand in the southeast of England & Warehouse, London also Sankeys in Ibiza 2013. He has had the pleasure of playing alongside the likes of Tom Demac, Glimpse, Clive Henry, Maya Jane Coles, Huxley, Laura Jones, Sam Russo, Anthea, Ben Pearce, Oliver $, Nikola Gala, Geddes. Also he has supported the following artists at other independent events such as Pete Tong, Eats Everything, Phil Kieran, Matt Tofrey, DJ Hell, Reboot, Stephan Bodzin, Kosheen, Format B and many more. Equipped with his promising production skills, a huge library of soon-to-be released tracks with the mammoth label ELECTRONIQUE he sits alongside artists such as Hot since 82, Hector, Carlos Sanchez, Detlef, Okain, Tigerskin, Inex, Rhadow to name a few, and with his fantastic DJing ability which never fails to ignite a crowd, it is fair to say we can expect big things from Russell in 2014/15.
