Shady Tvo is a product of the purest class of the Chicago house music institute. Born in Gary, Indiana, weekly pilgrimages were made to Chicago where Tvo’s foundations were built early on at Medusas on Sheffield with a blend of Acid House, Techno, Industrial and New Wave. He credits Depeche Mode, Front 242, Mad Professor, Nitzer Ebb and Fast Eddie as some of his most early influences. After a few stints at the club, Tvo found himself feeling empty and he knew he needed more! While under a shadow of musical poverty stricken conditions, weekly radio recordings took place while tuned into WBMX and WNUR. These sonic photographs then seized the airspace throughout the week until the next recording transpired. During the height of the Acid-House movement, Tvo pulled his roots out of the soil and was Chicago bound to study fine arts and fine arts photography. While on his studies he was unable to escape the native sounds of the city as they prowled around him persistently becoming the sound track to his city life. One day while out on a skateboarding jaunt around the concrete jungle, he stumbled across the world infamous Gramaphone Records, where he would later find himself employed as a music buyer. Tvo stumbled upon his new passion at the vinyl parlor as racks of colorful record sleeves sat in front of him like a phonograph garden and an eclectic taste in underground dance music sprouted. After spending voluminous amounts of time practicing and perfecting the art of marrying songs together in a perfect union, nightly recording sessions went down like clockwork at his base of operations. Then the next morning Tvo would unfurl his mixes out into the Chicago streets and a rapid demand for his sound began to echo throughout the concrete jungle. As duties for musical navigation were looking for vacancy, Tvo found him self enlisted to pilot Dj booths with the authority of a battleship commander facing every gig head on strategicly joining music and crowd together. It wasn’t a surprise that soon after studio gear started to replace furniture in his living space. Dedications to sonic experiments filled the days, while speaker assault missions to break the silence were engaged under the dark of night. It was only a matter of moments until he crossed paths with fellow Chicago beat selector Justin Long, whom in sharing a common taste in music, art and Star Wars, an alliance began to configure and blueprints for a modern Chicago house were built. Armed with vehement infatuation for the 808 drum machine, Tvo circumscribed himself with his gear at the rude boy room studio, currently providing remixes for Sawtooth Sucka and Wasted Chicago Youth as well as completed his latest project for .Dotbleep. titled The Lowride E.P., Tvo’s dedication to his beliefs and practices of sound manipulation earns him ranks along with the elite revolutionaries of the underground dance movement.
