- Music has to have soul, has to have meaning and made with love imagining each track created has a venue, a setting and a mood to go with it.Every track you hear from Sousa has all these characteristics and values moulded into them. Starting at a young age, influenced by his father's vinyl collection that contained the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire to Mister Mister, Sousa_ over time discovered electronic music and began developing a liking for Hardcore and Drum & Bass. This love and passion for electronic music led to his debut DJ set at a local night club in his hometown of Chesterfield at just 16 years of age. Over time Sousa_ became a part of a trio called Purple Gorilla who ran local nights. This included the trio DJing at raves in the woods to Ibiza boat parties, Bora Bora beach all the way to Ministry of Sound. The natural next step in their success journey as a musical trio was to start their own label Purple Gorilla Records, which ran from 2010 to 2014. After parting ways with the label and the trio, Sousa_ took some time away from music to focus on family life after having a child in 2014. However the love and passion for creating music never faded and was harnessed to prepare for the next musical adventure. His current musical influences include Paul Kalkbrenner, No Regular Play, Matthias Meyer and many more. His love for Drum & Bass hasn’t disappeared completely, he is more inspired by the liquid side of this genre nowadays.
