  • Stefan Gubatz, born in Husum, a small town in the north of Germany, and now living in Cologne, is producing music since the age of 10, when his father bought an Amiga 500 computer. While his dad was mostly playing games on it (although he insisted on u..
Heavily influenced by Germany TV Show "Housefrau", which at that time was nearly the only way to discover electronic music in northern Germany, his music became a mixture of Rave, Techno and Ambient. Unfortunately nearly all his friends listened to rock and punk music and nobody really seemed to care about Stefans sounds. But when he discovered that Psychedelic Trance actually was the only sort of electronic music which was a bit popular among his friends, Stefan began to get into the scene and started to produce Goa trance as well. Although it was his very first commercial release (actually his first vinyl release was a track on a compilation by the Husum youth center called "Ich brauch mehr Geld!" ("I need more money!", produced at the age of 10), he is not very proud of it today, because it just didn´t feel right. His heroes always were people like Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink or Hardfloor – and not Shiva Chandra, Astral Projection or Infected Mushroom. In 2002 Stefan moved to Cologne to become a writer for Claus Bachors former magazine "d2000" and with the same a part of the Psycho Thrill family. There he also rediscovered his love for Techno and Acid House in general. He soon got in contact with Dr. Walker who released some records like Ja / Nein and a blue vinyl EP called "Duck Hunt" on his well known DJungle Fever label. By that time Stefan also started to play as a DJ and Live act, mostly in Walkers club Camouflage, which had a huge influence for him. When Camouflage was closed and Walker left to Greece, releases became fewer, but of course Stefan never stopped to produce his music. Stefan began travelling and playing in other countries with another band and one day while he had to wait for his plane which was delayed at Bologna airport, he started to imagine a project with music only produced while waiting for delayed planes. The name of the project was easily found: Delay. The first track "Bologna" was created, a mixture of Ambient and Dub Techno, catching the calm vibe of the airport´s waiting area. In the following months Stefan created more and more Delay tracks until the album itself was finished in fall 2010. About that time, while actually visiting Salz mastering studio in Cologne, Stefan met Riley Reinhold of Traum Schallplatten who liked his Delay album very much. Both got in contact and Riley requested Stefan not only to remix some of the Traum / MBF artists, but also contribute to the newly founded Dub Techno label "Telrae", which Stefan of course did proudly. So in 2011 more and more tracks will come out by Stefan, currently he is preparing a live act to present the Delay project.
