Synapse is Serotonin Records label heads John Selway and Jason BPMF Szostek
Synapse is the electro funk project of label-heads John Selway and Jason “bpmf” Szostek that pre-dates the creation of their label Serotonin Records. When they met in 94 each had already established a reputation for hard underground techno, Selway in Disintegrator on Industrial Strength Records and Szostek as a member of the acid trio Prototype 909. Synapse resulted from their common love of syncopated beats and gave them an opportunity to explore their unique musical talents. While inspired by and contributing to the ongoing electro revival their work always pushes the envelope into new frontiers of electronic funk and can't as fit as neatly into the genre as well as much of what is labeled "electro" can. Besides three releases on Serotonin, Synapse tracks have made their way to Instinct, Studio K7 and Electrocord. With their EP "Scientism" taking their unique future funk sound even further into uncharted sonic territories, look for Synapse tracks to continue to define what Serotonin Records is and will be.
