Diogenes - Die - o (as in box) - jen - eez emphasis on the 'o'... Hello, I'm Matt (or 'Dob' - it doesn't matter which...) and I record under the name 'the Diogenes Club'.I grew up in South Wales and now exist in Brighton, England. I miss the mountains and the drizzle. I've never been in a band or been a DJ so there's not much history to speak of. I started playing my Dad's spanish guitar in my early teens and later got hold of a 4 track and began experimenting. I eventaully got a digital 16 track, an Atari, an old M1 and a Novation Nova and recorded some stuff which became my first EP for Urbantorque. I was never particularly into 'dance music' per se, prefering songs, but being unable/unwilling to sing or write lyrics, my music was instramental based. I eventually got myself a proper computer and recorded further EPs and remixes on Urbantorque. I recently met Paul Giles who lives in Cardiff, writes lyrics and sings. We were introduced by a very dear friend of mine who was sleeping with his sister (by the time you read this, they will be married... congratulations Ian and Lisa !). After emailing music and vocals back and forth, we started coming up with songs we were both happy with. The latest EP (Do you know how to feel it?) is the result. Over to you, Paul.... Hi, I'm the singer from 'the Diogenes Club'...I also grew up in Wales and live in the nations love-spooning capital. There's a history I could talk about but nothing of any merit to interest yourselves. I plucked and wailed through several bands in school and university, self-producing a wave of songs and pieces that satisfied my penchant for beautiful melodies and hazey melancholy. My musical story however was one of self discovery rather than popular ambition and therefore my misfortune, as opposed to super stardom, was always inevitable. Aside from that I've spent many years writing and performing in the comfort of my own space as well as amongst friends ; playing the kind of music that grabs and lifts me....and then I met Dob. Introduced by my future brother-in-law and close friend, we discussed the possibility of working on some new material. After playing with the idea of sending some vocals via email we decided to work on a track that Dob had begun previously, and so the melody was sent over. This was the birth of 'Come Back To Us', my first venture into the Diogenes Club, and so here we are...several months later with a shiny, reasonably polished EP, for both yourselves and us to enjoy...
