- Toronto born duo The Junkies are making waves with their distinct "New School Tech" sound. Regulars on Rawthentic, SCI+TEC, MOOD, Intec as well as their own imprint Local Music keeps the two at the forefront of electronic music.Vincenzo Nicolazzo and Valentino Colavecchia, better known as The Junkies have been an integral force among the electronic music community for more than a decade. Their style has continued to evolve over the years under the influence of various genres of electronic music, ranging from deep, soulful house to techno and everything in between. Drawing from these has resulted in a unique sound, entirely their own. It’s this sound that has made them a consistently present force in the Toronto club scene for over 10 years, and which has catapulted The Junkies to the global stage. Building upon their hard work, The Junkies successfully carved out a receptive and loyal fanbase early in their career. They’ve held residencies at Toronto’s top nightclubs, including the legendary Guvernment Nightclub, which captivated audiences for more than 18 years, becoming one of the world’s most recognized venue among the dance music community. In addition to The Guvernment, The Junkies could also be heard any given night at Toronto’s iconic underground club, Footwork. It was within these establishments where The Junkies often found themselves playing alongside some of the world’s largest and most respected DJs. They credit such opportunities for leading them towards their current enjoyed success. Today, The Junkies are proud to hold a residency at CODA Nightclub, Toronto’s most recognized and cherished site for quality house and techno music. The Junkies’ inimitable sound and refined taste are exhibited in their A+ productions, which have been fundamental in driving them forward as artists and DJs. They continue to be active in the scene, pushing out original and remixed work which consistently receives support from industry leaders worldwide. The Junkies have established themselves as primary artists on many of today’s esteemed labels. With regular appearances on Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, Carl Cox’s Intec, Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD Records, and Boris’ New York-based Transmit Recordings, plus many more, The Junkies are formidable artists with an exceptional catalogue of music to support them. Attempting to the widen their horizon further, The Junkies have also expanded their passion for music through their event brand, Union. In conjunction with life-long friends and fellow Torontonian DJ-Producers, Carlo Lio and Nathan Barato, the foursome make up Union, a touring event that features the artists going back-to-back-to-back for what is always a monumental party. After a successful launch with their massive New Year’s Eve event at CODA in Toronto, the brand has since hosted parties at prestigious dance music events including The BPM Festival in Playa del Carmen. The Junkies continue to bring the event series to cities around the world including New York City, Montreal, Mexico City, Santiago (Chile), plus more.
