The youngest of 3 brothers, Matt was privy to a music experience that many don’t get in life. Early experimentation with electronics and musical gear was a fascination for young Matt as he stumbled around as a 10 year old with size 13 shoes. His posture and demeanor as a young lad garnered him the nickname "The Missing Link." As a kid The Link was listening to forward thinking electronic acts such as Cabaret Voltaire, Front 242, Skinny Puppy, Tackhead, Al Jourgenson's bands, Front Line Assembly, Nitzer Ebb, Kraftwerk and others in the industrial genre of the time. It was 1991 when The Shamen released an ep entitled "Move any Mountain" and a year later The Prodigy released "The Experience" It was all over after that. Ilk bought a Korg MonoPoly and let The Link borrow it. In his own words "Like a vacuum, that thing sucked me in like pocket lint." In 2001 The Link had enough material for a rough glitchy techy breaky album that was put into an unreleased demo entitled "Enter the Brow." The Link and his brother Ilk went on a mini CA tour to showcase their skeelz with a rough live PA. The bug was set, and The Link wanted more of the live on stage experience. In the ensuing years The Link has kept his nose to the grindstone honing his craft and sounds. Deciding early on that samples were for pussies, The Link worked diligently creating his own sounds and equipment to produce them. After countless hours and time helping build the Colorado scene and sound, The Missing Link has his first track released on the milehighhouse recordings compilation entitled "Out Of Thin Air Volume 1." In late 2004 the Missing Link caught a break. Releasing the first ep for Totem Music Vancouver’s new label Wagon Repair. Totem has presold the limited issue of 1000 copies. This ep has launched The Missing Link into the Leftfield and Techno stratosphere. Having toured in the US, Mexico, and Canada to a great response the future holds big things for Matt. Keep your eyes open for new releases and remixes on Toggle Recordings and for future tour dates.
