- Violet Systems is the footwork moniker of ex-junglist MC/DJ/Producer Kid Entropy. He is joined by Dancemania Records staple Traxman and key members of the Tekk DJ'z founded by the late DJ Rashad alongside Traxman. Tekk DJ'z is a merger of consisting..Drum and bass DJ, MC and producer Kid Entropy’s first record was released by Barry Henssler, lead singer of the seminal punk band the Necros. It received nods from unlikely sources including Spin Magazine and the Wire UK’s best of 2000 list. Shortly thereafter touring with UK stalwarts Facs and B-key of Biotic records and Dutch Gabber producers The Outside Agency, Entro shifted into the role of MC including a legendary stint at the 2008 edition of Thunderdome in Utrecht. After a decline in both the American Dubstep and Jungle scene, Entro migrated as a spectator into more unconventional scenes including the Chicago Noise, Black Metal and Arts communities. One of these explorations unwittingly led him towards volunteer work where he served on a committee for the 18th annual Chicago Korean festival. The Chicago Sun Times newspaper even endorsed him as “exactly the kind of diversity the young Korean-American community craves.” Jon Cates, Chair of the Film Video New Media department at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, invited him to join his experimental New Media radio station NUMBERS.FM in 2010. Since then he has broadcasted weekly on Sundays as Violet Systems exploring contemporary vinyl culture with a heavy focus on Asia and its contemporary global identity. Utilizing his experiences with the Korean American Chamber of Commerce, he seeks out week to week the divide between East and West musically. Cutting his teeth as an emcee for the likes of Sonic and Silver, Shy FX, 2562, Total Science, Dylan, Plastician, Rusko and Skream, his attention to the crowd has shifted to behind the decks and on production. Releasing original footwork material on labels such as Nausicaa Sound, Tenth Degree, Abyss, and Tekk DJ'z own imprint, his original productions have been played by the likes of Traxman, Iyer, DJ Noir and Joey Drago of Juke Bounce Werk among others. As a DJ since 97, his sets span multiple formats analog and digital playing across genres with a recent interest in techno and fringe electronic music. His selection above all is adaptive and diverse much a nod to his ability to still control a mic on occasion. He is also working with Buenos Aires producer AYLU as well as Wellington based Lttle Phnx on remixes and new material for 2015. He has forthcoming releases on Italdred, Koklife, and Footmerc's seminal compilation "Channel Flipping" in the coming year and was even approach to remix punk rock icon HR of Bad Brains.̸[SHICHE-006] PHOENIX E.P.
