  • We Are Xircus
Jeet and Max Cooper have been residents at Nottingham’s legendary Firefly parties for over a decade, where their double-act, Xircus (aka Thrash Jelly), has been a mainstay. The pair’s diverse musical interests are brought together with Xircus providing a one-of-a-kind show, always tailored specifically to each event. Their creative approach to DJing has seen the act toured across the UK and internationally, with two appearances on BBC radio 1 dance shows, and their productions have been released on Trapez and Firefly recordings. Because of the musical width of the act, Xircus thrive on long sets, with their 6 hour residencies always a highlight. Xircus have played along side acts including Jeff Mills, Booka Shade, Vitalic, Hot Chip, Dave Clarke, Justice, Digitalism, Derrick May, Slam, Alter Ego, Umek, Alex Under, M.A.N.D.Y., Stanton Warriors, Paul Woolford, Justin Robertson, Speedy J, Daddy G (Massive Attack), Marco Bailey, Andrew Weatherall, Ben Sims, Adam Freeland, Plump DJs, Technasia, Freq Nasty, Phil Kieran, Rolando, Fergie, Hybrid, Green Velvet, Luke Slater etc etc etc! Even with performances along side acts of such calibre, Cirkus have consistently won crowds over with their infectious energy and occasional ridiculousness. The Xircus show consists of 3 mixers and 6 turntables being used by the pair in order to allow simultaneous scratching, juggling, mixing and layering of effects. This style of performance means that the act is a strong visual spectacle in addition to its musical merit. While Xircus mould their sound heavily on live manipulation via effects and turntablism, both members hold the flow of every set as primary, with a focus on maintaining a good musical evolution, while treating the crowd to an audio and visual performance that is truly unique.
